Support for Victims - Assault Victims

Disabled Victims

Among the many challenges that are faced by disabled people in society are exceptionally high levels of violence and abuse. The Public Health Agency of Canada claims that research in Canada puts children with disabilities at 5 times more likely to be victims of abuse than children without disabilities. Crime Prevention Ottawa claims that disabled women are 2 times as likely as women without disabilities to be victims of domestic assault.

Along with the many and varied resources that are available to all victims of violent crime in the National Capital Region, there are several resources that are meant exclusively for persons with disabilities.
